  1. Tire Collection

    Tire Collection Events

The 2024 tire collection events have been completed for the year.

However, there are typically two tire collection events per year in Berkeley County. They are typically held at the South Berkeley Recycling Center at 637 Pilgrim Street Inwood in cooperation with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WV-DEP).

The events are open to any West Virginia resident with a valid driver's license. Participants may dispose of up to 10 tires, free of charge, per valid license. The 10 tire per license rule will be strictly enforced. The tires do NOT need to be removed from the rims. State rules do NOT allow waste haulers, non-West Virginia residents and businesses to participate.

Each tire will be inspected by the BCSWA and WV- DEP staff prior to acceptance and both entities reserve the right to reject any tire not considered acceptable. The SBRC will also accept metal vehicle rims (without tires) for recycling. The tires will be placed in road trailers and sent to the “Tire and Rubber Inc.” tire monofill located in Lewis County, WV.

Depending on the circumstances, special adhoc arrangements may be possible for tires collected from open dumps and streams by contacting the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority at 304-267-9370.
