Community Corrections

Authorized by W.Va. Code 62-11C, the West Virginia Community Corrections Act provides a means for communities to develop, establish and maintain community-based corrections programs to provide the judicial system with sentencing alternatives for those adult offenders who may require less than institutional custody. 

Authorized programs and services include; probation supervision, community service restitution, home incarceration, substance abuse treatment, sex offender containment, licensed domestic violence treatment, day reporting centers, educational or counseling programs, Drug Courts, community beautification and reclamation programs for state highways, municipal, county, and state parks and recreation areas and community gardens and Pretrial release programs.
