Firefighter Tommy Newcomb retired July 31, 2024. He is one of the original four professional firefighters for Berkeley County Engine 90 when it was established in July 2010. FF Newcomb spent his career working as a senior firefighter assigned to Station 40 (Bedington). He is a member of the Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team and the Swift Water Rescue Team. He has served the department in many ways including serving as a mentor to new firefighters, acting as a liaison between the career staff and volunteer departments, working with the state government to pass legislation on behalf of firefighters, and participating in community events such as the Coats for Kids Drive.
Firefighter Newcomb has over 40 years in fire and emergency services and plans to continue as a volunteer while continuing to operate his plumbing company. He plans to enjoy more time with his wife and family.
