[ARCHIVED] Ray, Loveless Receive Telecommunicator, Supervisor of 2024 Awards

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (April 11, 2025) – Danielle Ray was recognized Thursday as the Berkeley County Department of Emergency Communications Telecommunicator of the Year and Chasity Loveless was recognized as the Supervisor of the Year for 2024.

The awards were presented at Thursday’s regular meeting of the Berkeley County Commission by Berkeley County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) Director Jennifer Swisher and Deputy Director Paula Wilson.

“She consistently demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the job," Swisher said of Ray’s work performance in prepared remarks.

“When faced with challenges, she follows through with determination. During high pressure calls, requiring firm action, she has the ability to remain calm making it appear effortless.”

Swisher recognized Loveless’ organization of heartfelt events, noting her commitment to team spirit.

“From organizing heartfelt events like Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas celebrations, she has planned and participated in many of our Community Events such as Valentines for Veterans at the VA Center,” Swisher said.

“Each of these events often bring joy to a job which can be a challenging and demanding. Her dedication to boosting morale and creating moments of sunshine for the team does not go unnoticed.”

As in past years, Swisher told Berkeley County Commissioners that it is extremely difficult to decide who to recognize each year.

The staff recognitions are made in conjunction with National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which this year will be observed April 13-19, 2025.
