The Berkeley County Fire Department provides career firefighters and special rescue and response teams to augment volunteer firefighters at each of the five volunteer fire departments in the county: Back Creek Valley, Baker Heights, Bedington, Hedgesville, and South Berkeley.
MISSION
Berkeley County Fire Department is dedicated to preserving the lives and property of our community by providing fire, rescue, and specialized response services of utmost quality using the expertise of our firefighters and up-to-date technology. We strive to be there when needed most and take pride in being the “thin red line” of protection as we steadfastly safeguard against fire and other natural and manmade disasters.
VISION
The Berkeley County Fire Department is working towards expanding coverage in the county’s five fire districts to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
We would like to provide fire, rescue, and special operations services at a moment’s notice to ensure the highest level of protection to our community.
We will continue to broaden our knowledge of fire/rescue techniques and utilize proven methods and up to date technology to provide the best level of professional service to our community.

ORGANIZATION
The department consists of both full-time and part-time paid firefighters who work closely with the volunteer firefighters throughout Berkeley County. The members of Berkeley County Fire Department work 12-hour or 24-hour shifts and are assigned to the volunteer fire stations.
